Welcoming Karoline and Jana to our research team!
We are thrilled to welcome two new PhD students, Karoline and Jana, to the Applied Systems Biology group! Having successfully completed their master’s theses with us, they are now embarking on exciting doctoral journeys. Karoline brings her expertise in modeling organ-on-chip systems, while Jana contributes her skills in machine-learning based surrogate modeling, both backed by […]

Siegfried Czapski Publication Prize for Interdisciplinary Research
Congratulations to Parastoo Akbarimoghaddam, Tim Kaden (Dynamics42 GmbH), and Raquel Alonso Román (Leibniz-HKI) for winning the Siegfried Czapski Publication Prize for their interdisciplinary paper published in June! The work impressed the jury with its innovative integration of bioengineering, infection biology, and bioimage analysis, including optimizing organ-on-chip models, automating image analysis, and developing a novel bioinformatics […]

Exploring New Frontiers at the IbSB2024
We’re happy to share that our biannual International Symposium on Image-based Systems Biology wrapped up at the HKI-Center in Jena! It was inspiring to reconnect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and see the latest in image-driven biology, from high-throughput screening to advanced modeling techniques. We’re already looking forward to the next symposium in 2026!
