In this study we derived a framework to analyze confrontation assays by an image based systems biology approach.
Experimental Data
Confrontations assays were performed with Candida glabrata and neutrophils. Time-resolved microscopy data were collected during the whole duration of the experiment.

Image Analysis
Experimental data sets were quantified and analyzed with the aid of automated image analysis using the tracking tool AMIT.
Model
We developed a stochastic state-based model that describes the dynamics of the confrontation assay. The simulated kinetics are fitted to the experimental data so that the underlying model parameters of the system can be determined.
Image-based modelling of confrontation assays
Live cell imaging data is analyzed and quantified using AMIT. Based on these quantifications the state-based model for confrontation assays is calibrated and model parameters can be estimated.
